Prague is a stunning city with fairytale-like architecture around every corner. The best way for first-time visitors to experience the city is to stay in an area where you’re immersed in that romantic atmosphere. For me, that would be the Old Town (Staré Město). It’s where you’ll find all the must-see sights like the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge, and the beautiful Old Town Square—all within walking distance. If you’re looking for some focused recommendations about where to stay in Prague as a first-time visitor, these are the hotels that we stayed in and considered for our trip.

MOODs Boutique Hotel ($)

We stayed at the MOODs boutique hotel. It has a good location close to the river, and is about a 15 min walk from the center of the old town where the main sites are. The hotel is very modern and clean, and the rooms were comfortable.

Golden Angel Suites by Adrez ($)

For an apartment type stay, the Golden Angel Suites by Adrez is at the top of my list. They have a range of beautifully decorated studio and one bedroom apartments. And the location is amazing, only 5 min walk from the center of the old town.

Maximilian Hotel ($$)

The Maximilian Hotel is a boutique hotel housed in a historical building. It has that historic charm on the outside, but is modern and sleek on the inside. They have rooms of all different sizes to suit different types of travelers. And some rooms even have a cute balcony with views of the church. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the Old Town Square.

Grand Hotel Bohemia ($$$)

The Grand Hotel Bohemia has been the epitome of elegance in Prague for the last almost 100 years. It has an ideal location only a couple minutes walk from the Old Town Square but away from the hustle and bustle. Some of the rooms have balconies with beautiful views of the church over the red tiled roofs of the city.
